Dog Owner small, concerned for Predators?
Hey guys, my family and I are finally moving into a house greater with beautiful yard! Which is one of my dogs is a / Min Pin & Chihuahua has many trees there and we have a little canyons in this area. Not sure if Hawks here, but I do not know that there are owls here. So basically, I want him to have access to the backyard when ever he wants (He enjoys laying in the sun and play with his toys), but I am worried only for his safety when it comes to predators. How to keep him safe when he is outside? A hawk or owl can only lift twice their weight. I do not know your area, so that hawks do not know you, but you can find your local hawks listed here, and their weight: http://www.usaref.org/hawks.htm Also, to remove or escape, a hawk needs a lot of 'tape reduction' .. depends on the dimensions so that your yard and fence height. A hawk prefers its natural food, mice, rats, rabbits, lizards, birds, and only that will go after a cat or dog chase if is full and prey is scarce. You can hawk-proof your yard by running cords all that, the fence with fence .. (especially in the all sides to make small yard). as they will not come where they do not save free. If your fence is very short (as most are) you can add a 1x1x6 as a extender to get the string and your height. Kile under 5 and dogs are most at risk, and I really keep a sharp eye on our £ 4 Chihuahua. He never just let out. I just moved from an area where an owl got a Maltese family camps, and an eagle took a Yorkie ... as summer last. If I owned this house, I will put in the fence and run extenders string in 7or 8 feet, as i used to do to keep our birds safe.
